About me...
Hi! My name is Emilola (pronounced eh-mi-loh-lah) although everyone calls me Lola (loh-lah). I have been a midwife for 18 years and in this time I can honestly say that my passion and love for my profession has grown from strength to strength.
I have worked in all areas of midwifery in many units across London and I am currently working at the Birth Centres of two London hospitals.
I am passionate about promoting advocacy and normalising birth. More recently I have been using my voice to address the inequalities in maternity care for women and birthing people in an effort to improve outcomes for black and brown families.
Speaking engagements
Black and brown women continue to suffer from structural racism and inequalities in care. I have been using my voice to address these inequalities in an effort to provide equitable care for black and brown women/birthing people and their families. I have spoken at conferences and other events including the Midwifery Hour, Black Breastfeeding Week and Black Maternal Health Week. I am also working with two Universities to improve Midwifery education in these areas. Please contact me if you would like me to speak at your event. Prices available on request.
