About

About me...

Hi! My name is Emilola (pronounced eh-mi-loh-lah) although everyone calls me Lola (loh-lah). I have been a midwife for over 20 years and in this time I can honestly say that the love for my profession has grown from strength to strength.

I have worked in all areas of midwifery and while I enjoy all aspects of my job, I absolutely love supporting women in labour and birth as they make that transition to motherhood. I am also committed to normalising birth and in fact the female body, and to that end my other passion is educating women on their cycles and natural fertility. I am an accredited teacher of the Billings Ovulation Method and my goal to create more awareness around natural fertility management. I am also a qualified Birth Without Fear Method Teacher. As well as working clinically I am also working as a midwifery lecturer at a London University. In an effort to tackle the inequities in maternal health for black and brown women, I have formed a decolonisation group with colleagues in order to ensure that our students are learning skills to equip them to provide culturally safe care for black and brown women and improve outcomes for them and other marginalised groups.
